A FISH STORY...that's worth reading!

In light of this scrippy, what do YOU think about this fishing story!

Jesus said, 'Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.'  Matt. 4:19 NKJV

Now it came to pass that a group existed who called themselves fishermen. And lo, there were many fish in the waters all around. In fact, the whole area was surrounded by streams and lakes filled with fish. And the fish were hungry.

Week after week, month after month, and year after year, these who called themselves fishermen met in meetings and talked about their call to fish, the abundance of fish, and how they might go about fishing. Year after year they carefully defined what fishing means, defended fishing as an occupation, and declared that fishing is always to be a primary task of fishermen.

Continually, they searched for new and better methods of fishing and for new and better definitions of fishing. They created witty slogans and displayed them on big beautiful banners.

These fishermen built large, beautiful buildings called “Fishing Headquarters.” The plea was that everyone should be a fisherman and every fisherman should fish. One thing they didn’t do, however: They did not fish.

In addition to meeting regularly, they organized a board to send out fishermen to other places where there were many fish. The board hired staffs and appointed committees and held many meetings to define fishing, to defend fishing, and to decide what new streams should be thought about. But the staff and committee members did not fish.

Large, elaborate, and expensive training centers were built whose original and primary purpose was to teach fishermen how to fish. Over the years courses were offered on the needs of fish, the nature of fish, where to find fish, the psychological reactions of fish, and how to approach and feed fish. Those who taught had doctorates in fishology, but the teachers did not fish. They only taught fishing. Year after year, after tedious training, many were graduated and were given fishing licenses. They were sent to do full-time fishing, some to distant waters, which were filled with fish. Many who felt the call to be fishermen responded. They were commissioned and sent to fish. But like the fishermen back home, they never fished.

They engaged in all kinds of other occupations….Some felt their job was to relate to the fish in a good way so the fish would know the difference between good and bad fishermen. Others felt that simply letting the fish know they were nice, land-loving neighbors and how loving and kind they were was enough.

Now it’s true that many of the fishermen sacrificed and put up with all kinds of difficulties. Some lived near the water and bore the smell of dead fish every day. They received the ridicule of some who made fun of their fishermen’s clubs and the fact that they claimed to be fishermen yet never fished.

Imagine how hurt some were when one day a person suggested that those who don’t fish were really not fishermen, no matter how much they claimed to be. Yet it did sound correct. Is a person a fisherman if, year after year, he never fishes? Is one really following if he isn’t fishing?     by John Drescher

Maybe you're somewhat like me?

I can better understand a spiritual truth (the unseen) from something in the natural (the seen).  Hang in there with me...I'm going somewhere that I want to take you to SEE too.

One morning, as I read various lines in my Bible, it was as though I could see different friends' names right smack, dab in the middle of the lines.  As I continued reading, I would see yet another friend's name.  I would stop reading and text my friends telling them I saw their name within the Words.

Then came the understanding!  On the way to work, I remembered something from my childhood that helped me understand why I could see my friends' names (and continue to) within the various verses of the Bible.

Do you remember Romper Room?  I may be speaking to the over 40 crowd here...he he

by clicking this link:
Somewhat like the magic mirror (analogy only) God sees YOU - He calls you by name!  Though many, I picked just 2 stories where Jesus shows how He sees the ONE person.

1st story:  Jesus entered Jericho and made His way through the town. There was a man there named Zacchaeus. He was the chief tax collector in the region, and he had become very rich. He tried to get a look at Jesus, but he was too short to see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree beside the road, for Jesus was going to pass that way.

When Jesus came by, he looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name“Zacchaeus!” He said. “Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today.”

Zacchaeus quickly climbed down and took Jesus to his house in great excitement and joy.   Luke 19:1-6 NLT

2nd story:  “How do you know about me?” Nathanael asked.  Jesus replied, I could see you under the fig tree before Philip found you.” John 1:48 NLT

Today, He sees you and calls YOU by name!  Your name is written throughout His word.  Imagine that!  That's how special you are to Him.

Lord, you have seen what is in my heart. You know all about me. You know when I sit down and when I get up. You know what I’m thinking even though You are far away. You know when I go out to work and when I come back home. You know exactly how I live.  Psalm 139:1-3 NIRV

Every day, God is trying to get your attention to let you know He sees YOU.  Yet, some still do not turn to Him and say, “I don’t want to continue to go my own way." When the heart is open to want to know the truth, He will reveal Himself to you.  He will show you how YOUR name is written all over His Word.

Today, will you repent of your sin and believe that He paid the price on the cross to forgive your sins? It is sin that separates us from knowing a Holy God.  Today can be the day that He not only sees you, but you will see Him!

Got a question?  I'm here for you!

Where do you find the significance of your life?

Have you ever wondered what your purpose in life is or how you are to go about finding out what makes your life so unique?

I will admit, I was 24 years old before I understood that I was a 3-part being.  I remember reading a neat book about Spirit, soul & body, in the back of a truck on a road trip.  I understood for the first time that the real me (the real you) is the innermost part of our being.  That innermost part is the Spirit (heart).

We are body, soul & spirit.  The body is how we experience the physical world.  The soul is the mind, will & emotions.  The Spirit, the innermost being, is where God quickens us with His Spirit to know, understand and communicate with Him.

I'm pretty sure we could all say, if we truly believed we could communicate with Almighty God, that surely we could know what our purpose of life is.

This is not some far off thought - we can draw near to God and know Him.  We can understand and communicate with Him by His Spirit, the innermost part of us (heart).

And I will give them one heart [a new heart] and I will put a new Spirit within them; and I will take the stony [unnaturally hardened] heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh [sensitive and responsive to the touch of their God]  Ezekiel 11:19 AMP

Our part is to acknowledge our sin that separates us from Him.  We make the choice to repent (turn from our way of doing things) and ask Him to direct our lives....give up our self-seeking ways.....God will so quicken our hearts so that we will be brought back into a relationship (that sin separated us from).

You can know Him, and your purpose, through this new relationships with Him!  What is more, you will begin to understand His Word (the Bible) and His voice that speaks directly to your heart.

Here are just 2 scriptures that speak about God speaking to the heart, the innermost you :)

Solomon finished the house of the Lord, and the king's house: and all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of the Lord, and in his own house, he prosperously effected.  2 Chronicles 7:11 KJV

And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel.  Acts 7:23 KJV

The One who created you, wants to reveal His intentions to your heart.  It is more than an ordinary pulse - it is a very real sense of knowing "this is what I was created for!"

Today, will you hear and listen to God's call?  He's calling to those who know Him and to those who are ready to know Him :)

What has God has put into YOUR heart do so?

Simply said

Everyday we open our eyes and ears to an enormous amount of visual and verbal thoughts.

We almost seem obsessed with social media, letting 'friends'  see our recent Instagram, Selfie, upload of our friends or family pix to FB, or the important detail about how our child just said or did a particular thing.  It's quite exciting really - it's all part of this thing we call life.  We want to let others be part of what is important to us.

Though I love to be part of the lives of others, there is something that cannot be overlooked.  That is the source of what it is we really all live for.  Behind all the pix and recognition, what are we saying?  Perhaps it is, "Look at my life.  Look at how/what I am doing.  Look and see something wonderful that is going on in my life and the life of my family and friends."

This is all valid.  Yes.  But I can't help but to say there is something more.
I can't help it!  Can't help what?
We (ourselves) cannot help telling what we have seen and heard  Acts 4:20 AMP

Though social media can seem quite amazing, in that we get to all share in one another's experience of life, I cannot keep silent about the something more.

I cannot keep inside what I have seen and heard, which is a piece of my life I hope we can connect together on.  I want you to know.  Here goes...

Over 20 years ago - specifically April 1991, I got out of my bed at midnight, got down on my knees and said, "Lord, God, Jesus...whoever You are, if You're real, I want to know you."  In that moment, a peace and love came over me in my room.  I had an experience right there in my bedroom with God.  My heart was open to know the truth. Wow!  The next morning I woke up and I was never the same person I again.  His life became my life and I was truly alive like never before.  His Word (the Bible) was not a dull book anymore but words full of life that opened up and revealed things I never knew...and continues...

So, don't blame me, it's all because of His LIFE...the new life given to me in Christ Jesus that now compels me to tell people what I have seen and heard.

I can't help it!

Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.  John 14:6  NKJV

If you want to know Him today, you can!  I would love to talk with you about how you can come into a real relationship with Him today.

WHAT! No cell phone!

Right in front of my face!

The sign read NO CELL PHONE ZONE. I'm sure you have seen these signs, right?  I'm sure I must have too, but for some reason, I finally did see this one at my doctor appointment last week (I am healthy BTW!)

No cell phone zone.

Simple enough....but is it really necessary?

Do we need help, by way of a sign, to let us know when to stop using our cell phone?  Really??!!  Apparently so!

Let me ask you a question here.  Why do you suppose businesses find this type of sign necessary?  It's pretty simple actually - it's call DISTRACTION. They don't want you to be distracted from something that is important - communication with you.

I laughed as I talked with the nurse about this sign.  She told me how some people would refuse to adhere to the sign and continue to talk away on their phones.  She told me she needs to ask the patient questions and the fact that some patients could not get off the phone made it difficult to get the answers she needed.

Do we really need a sign posted to stop the DISTRACTION in our life?  Have we become undisciplined and unable to carry on regular human communication and put down the cell!

Let me drive this point closer to the greater matter - the matter of being distracted from a real relationship with God.  From the beginning of time, His desire was to be in relationship with each one of us.  Think of someone you deeply love.  Wouldn't you prefer to look into their eyes, talk with them and KNOW THEM instead of constantly texting or talking on your phone while in their presence?

Distraction: a drawing apart; separation; confusion from a multiplicity of objects crowding the mind and calling the attention different ways. Websters 1828 Dictionary

The Bible speaks about the dove.  Why?  Because the dove's eyes indicates a possession of a awareness and commitment.  A dove does not have peripheral vision (vision outside the central area of focus), therefore it can only see straight ahead.  This is why the dove's eyes are used in a love relationship seen in the Song of Solomon.

How beautiful you are, my love! How beautiful you are! Your eyes are like doves.   Song of Solomon 1:15 NLV

The Bible is God's book of love for us and what a romance it is!  God loves you...He loves you and wants to have relationship with you. Way back in the Garden of Eden, sin caused separation of man with a holy God.

The good news is, through Jesus Christ dying on the cross and taking the penalty of our sin, we can choose to repent (turn from our way of doing things) and give our lives fully to Him, so we can truly live life doing exactly what He created each of us to do.  WOW! Don't miss out on knowing and understanding your Father.  Jesus revives our Spirit and gives us HIS LIFE.

He gives life to the world.  John 6:33

Don't allow other 'things' to dominate your thoughts.  Do you need to adjust your focus and become like the dove who is not distracted by the many things around?  Set you eyes on Jesus - where your true life IS!  It's found IN Him.  Found in knowing Him.  Found in relationship with Him.  This is for you today.  The Bible says:

Look, now is the right time! Look, now is the day of salvation!       2 Corinthians 6:2 CEB

Do you have the secret?

What do you understand?  What do you know?  What do you 'really' know?

Being IN THE KNOW is possessing inside, secret, or special informations; to perceive or understand as fact or truth.

But God gave man the handbook of life.  His book book contains the understanding of relationship with the living God as well as the keys to living life on earth with others.

But these are written so you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. When you put your trust in Him, you will have life that lasts forever through His name.  John 20:31 NLV

We were not meant to live in the unknowns of who we are, the whys of why we are here, and our purpose on earth.  The fact is, without knowing Him personally, our mind remains in darkness - it simply cannot understand truth.

The true KNOWING is found in the Bible - God's words to us that are truth.  How many times are we willing to listen to men proclaim what they believe to be truth?

The good news is He always intended that we live in the light of His truth.  Jesus said YOU CAN KNOW...

I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God. Now you can know you have life that lasts forever.  1 John 5:13 NLV

Life?  Not just existence, but LIFE.  Life is for your 'choosing.'  Will you choose His way and not your own today?

Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!  Deuteronomy 30:19 NLT

Choose life by turning from your way and your sin and turning to the one who paid the price for your sin, so you can KNOW Him :)

What is your CAUSE?

We all want to know that our life is significant!

And yes, YOUR life is significant!

Your life was never intended to be a casual existence, but a purposeful, "Hello world, I am here, at this time, for THIS reason!"

Your cause (the very knowing that this is why you exist) can probably be readily seen in what you are passionate about.  You know, the something you would do if money were not an object, that would bring you great satisfaction.

What motivates you to action is also key to revealing to you the significance of your life and what it can be.

Did you know that Jesus, the Son of God, had a cause too...just as you have a significant cause?  He didn't just appear with a casual purpose.  No, He had a cause and He knew it and fulfilled that purpose.  So can you!

Look what Jesus said about His cause.

Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?”

Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king.  For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth.  Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.  John 18:37 NKJV

Jesus said it clearly - He said He was born to bear witness to truth. He wanted each of us to know truth, and to believe the truth so we could have a relationship with Him.

It may seem too simplistic, but Jesus said it!

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."  John 14:6 NKJV

You are significant, because you are the only you that will ever ever exist.
You are significant because you were known and thought of before the foundation of the earth.
You are significant because Jesus went to the cross to pay the penalty of sin for you, so that you could choose to know Him.
You are significant because there is a specific purpose for your life.  He is never withholding from you.  Never!  Today He says:
Listen! I am standing and knocking at your door. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in...  Revelation 3:20 CEV
Will you make the choice today to go His way?  Repent of your sins and ask Him to be the Lord of your life.  It is just the beginning of knowing your cause, and you will never regret knowing the truth!
