where does it begin?

It all begins in the heart of man.

"The heart is hopelessly dark and deceitful, a puzzle that no one can figure out.

But I, God, search the heart and examine the mind.  I get to the heart of the human.  I get to the root of things.  I treat them as they really are, not as they pretend to be."
Jeremiah 17:9-10 MSG

Restrictions may limit what a person can do outwardly, but it cannot change the who that a person is inwardly.

Our behavior comes from the inward person.  This is the heart of the matter.  In scriptures, the heart is the center of the will (mind, will & emotions) which in turn determines our actions.

The diagnosis of the heart of man is hopelessly dark and deceitful.  Yikes!  But wait!  If we can accept the diagnosis that we are sinners (full of self-will) then we can receive the cure.  Do you want to know the cure?  Receive a new heart.  This is God's radical intervention!

"Blessed (happy, enviably fortunate, and spiritually prosperous—possessing the happiness produced by the experience of God’s favor and especially conditioned by the revelation of His grace, regardless of their outward conditions) are the pure in heart, for they shall see God!"
Matthew 5:8 AMP

A clean heart comes from choosing to turn from our own self-will life to a God-will life (ask Him).  Believe in your heart that Jesus paid the price on the cross for your sins, turn from your way of doing things and receive your new heart.

I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you.
Ezekiel 36:26 NLT

  1. It's an interesting post Linda. I'm not convinced the heart of man is "hopelessly dark and deceitful," though. For some, yes. But there are others, Christian or not, who dedicate their life helping people. Thanks for the though-provoking blog. Keep writing.

  3. This is so true. The heart can be a mysterious place, without God. But with God, it can be a mirrored imaged of God's own heart. We were made in His image with His likeness so we can also have the heart of God. When dealing with people, we must be willing to listen. Listen to their hearts because out of the heart, the mouths speaks. You can't help someone with an issue they may have if you don't listen. We were placed here to worship God and to be His ambassadors in the earth. If you have a heart of worship and a heart of serving, you're already on the right track. If you don't, then take your heart to the Lord. He's a master craftsman and because He created you, He knows how to recreate your heart.

    Be Blessed

Thanks for the reminder that we are created in 'His' image! WOW!

I love what you said about listening to other's hearts & what they are saying. God always has the answers to their questions :)

  5. Jeremiah said there will be a time (when Jesus came) in which the Law would be written on our hearts "conscience" and then Jesus reiterated this as well as Ezekiel when He said he would take out the stony heart and make it a heart of flesh- an internal transformation :) -Kimmy
