The most wonderful time of the year!

Can you hear the song....telling us why it's the most wonderful time of the year?

There'll be parties for hosting
Marshmallows for toasting
And caroling out in the snow
There'll be scary ghost stories
And tales of the glories
Of Christmases long, long ago
It's the most wonderful time of the year

Is this what makes it oh so wonderful?

Could this most wonderful time truly be because we secretly hope there 'is' something more for us?

Do you know why it's the most important time of the year?  Not based on a song, but a real inward understanding.  This understanding is founded in His truth that says we CAN expect to see a good future.

I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 NLT

What sets this season apart from the rest of the year?  Yes, it is about the spirit of giving we feel & put into action for those we care about.

Beyond the extension of our love to one another in gift-giving, it is about a hope that is extended toward us.  A hope that is certain. A hope that is an anchor for our soul. It is strong and secure.  It is founded on the indescribable gift (Jesus) that was given to each of us by way of the cross.  Death on the cross to pay our sin debt, that we could be forgiven of our sins and brought back into relationship with God.

I have come into the world to be a light. No one who believes in Me will stay in darkness. John 12:46 NIRV

We can hope & put our confidence in Him because this is His very character.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8 NIRV

Today, don't let yourself be hardened in heart to this truth of hope...the expectation of good that awaits your life - It's your choice to know & follow Him.

Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.
Hebrews 3:15 NIV

You don't have to wait until Christmas day to receive this gift.  His gift is too wonderful for words!

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!  2 Corinthians 9:15 NIV

May you sing Joy to the World, with countless others who have received His gift.
Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room...
Isaac Watts, 1719

  1. So many hymns that people sing at Christmas a packed full of meaning, but we often don't think about that meaning when we are singing them. Take Joy To The World, for example: "The King who was anticipated in the first verse, celebrated for his rule in the second verse, and viewed as the Savior of this sin-cursed world in third, now is proclaimed as the One who will bring a just judgment to this broken world." A good reminder to stop and think what we are celebrating this season! Thanks for all you to do spread the Gospel!

  2. I like the packed full hymns!

Before I knew this King, I sang the words to these hymns year after year. But when the King came into my heart, then I understood the words & experienced His life.

I'm going to go read Joy to the World now :) :)

  3. How refreshing your words are; just expressing the simplicity of the Word Of God. Even a little child appreciates truth. Strength? The joy of the Lord is mine. Thanks for the reminder to...sing!
