Pulling down idols

Yesterday, on my visit to a Napa, CA cave, I came across an interesting finding.  To my surprise, I found this Buddha 100 yards into the cave!  I did what only seemed normal to me - take it down!  Ha ha...I didn't literally wrestle it to the ground, but a certain something did arise within me when I saw this idol.  Why? Because an idol represents falsehood,a non truth, death if you will.

Their idols are silver and gold,
The work of men’s hands.
 They have mouths, but they do not speak;
Eyes they have, but they do not see;
 They have ears, but they do not hear;
Noses they have, but they do not smell;
They have hands, but they do not handle;
Feet they have, but they do not walk;
Nor do they mutter through their throat.
 Those who make them are like them;
So is everyone who trusts in them.  Ps. 115:5-8

Wow!  We become like the one whom we worship!  The good news is, those who choose to follow Jesus, the true LIFE, we become like Him, full of life.  As He is, so are we in this world.  Jesus paid the price that we COULD live!

You He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins. Eph. 2:1

Are you moved?

What does compassion look like?

This question was answered.  It happened as I was praying, and though I did not specifically ask the Lord what compassion looks like, He told me.  He said to me, it will only happen as you reach out to others and forget about yourself.  Then you will see Me move in tremendous ways, but it will only come through love and compassion, as you reach out to others and forget about yourself.

The Compassion of Jesus

35 Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.  36 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”  Matt. 9:35-38 NKJV
I knew there was a scrippy that said Jesus was moved with compassion, but it wasn't until I looked at this in context that I saw something more!  The verse before Jesus moved with compassion, the scrippy says He was teaching, preaching and healing.  Verse 36 seems to turn a different direction.  Wasn't he moved by compassion to the groups He was with in verse 35 as well?  BUT when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them.  Healing is a temporal thing, but in verses 36-38 He was concerned about those who were ignorant and who would perish for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6).  The most Christ-like compassion is compassion for souls.

one in the midst of the crowd

Have you ever felt like one in the midst of the crowd - a bit insignificant.  Not so!  The moment your heart desires the truth, something radical is going to take place in your life.

In the story about the woman with the issue of blood, for 12 years this woman first sought help from others.  She did not get better, but only got worse!

Are we not the same?  We choose first to go to our friends & family in a time of need (sometimes receiving something of no lasting value).  Some of us busy ourselves in our work, try to establish our own righteousness, or torment ourselves by vain superstitions. Sadly, many perish in these ways.  However, in the moment we choose to reach out and touch Him, Christ heals us of the disease of our sin and we find an entire change for the better starting to take place, inwardly.

When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, 'If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.' Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction. And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, 'Who touched My clothes?' But His disciples said to Him, 'You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?' And He looked around to see her who had done this thing. Mark 5:27-32 NKJV
Though a great number of people thronged Jesus, they were just carried along in the crowd.  But ONE, one only - "a certain person" TOUCHED HIM.  She touched Him by reaching out, dependent and trusting, to have contact with Him. This is what Jesus acknowledges and seeks out.

Is it an equation?

The more a man dies to himself the more he can live for God

It's a daily choice to die to the self life (your way of doing life)
so that you can experience the fullness of true life (Chirst life).

Is it an equation?
die to self = living for others

Listen carefully: Unless a grain of wheat is buried in the ground, dead to the world, it is never any more than a grain of wheat. But if it is buried, it sprouts and reproduces itself many times over. In the same way, anyone who holds on to life just as it is destroys that life. But if you let it go, reckless in your love, you’ll have it forever, real and eternal.  John 12:24-25 MSG

To death

Have you ever had someone say, "I'll love you to death!"

It dawned on me, in a big way, that Jesus is the one who LOVED US TO DEATH.  Death on the cross, to make the way possible for us to be restored to a love relationship with Him again!

Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.  But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  Rom. 5:7-8 NIV

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit
1 Pet. 3:17-19 NKJV

It's a universal fact, we all crave true love.  Nothing is better than relationship - we were CREATED for it!  First with Him and with one another.  Man will remain unsatisied in his pursuits, until he receives the free gift of forgivness from his sins (paid on the cross) and a turning from a 'self' centered life to a 'Christ' centered life.

Zealous for Good Works!

Truth be told?  But of course!  I had to stop the busyness of my morning to first be with the Lord.  And WOW....yes, He speaks.  Our part, listen.

I heard Him say to be 'zealous for good works!'

He gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.  Titus 2:14

What are you zealous for - burning with passion for?
