MAGIC MIRROR!

Maybe you're somewhat like me?

I can better understand a spiritual truth (the unseen) from something in the natural (the seen).  Hang in there with me...I'm going somewhere that I want to take you to SEE too.

One morning, as I read various lines in my Bible, it was as though I could see different friends' names right smack, dab in the middle of the lines.  As I continued reading, I would see yet another friend's name.  I would stop reading and text my friends telling them I saw their name within the Words.

Then came the understanding!  On the way to work, I remembered something from my childhood that helped me understand why I could see my friends' names (and continue to) within the various verses of the Bible.

Do you remember Romper Room?  I may be speaking to the over 40 crowd here...he he

by clicking this link:
Somewhat like the magic mirror (analogy only) God sees YOU - He calls you by name!  Though many, I picked just 2 stories where Jesus shows how He sees the ONE person.

1st story:  Jesus entered Jericho and made His way through the town. There was a man there named Zacchaeus. He was the chief tax collector in the region, and he had become very rich. He tried to get a look at Jesus, but he was too short to see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree beside the road, for Jesus was going to pass that way.

When Jesus came by, he looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name“Zacchaeus!” He said. “Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today.”

Zacchaeus quickly climbed down and took Jesus to his house in great excitement and joy.   Luke 19:1-6 NLT

2nd story:  “How do you know about me?” Nathanael asked.  Jesus replied, I could see you under the fig tree before Philip found you.” John 1:48 NLT

Today, He sees you and calls YOU by name!  Your name is written throughout His word.  Imagine that!  That's how special you are to Him.

Lord, you have seen what is in my heart. You know all about me. You know when I sit down and when I get up. You know what I’m thinking even though You are far away. You know when I go out to work and when I come back home. You know exactly how I live.  Psalm 139:1-3 NIRV

Every day, God is trying to get your attention to let you know He sees YOU.  Yet, some still do not turn to Him and say, “I don’t want to continue to go my own way." When the heart is open to want to know the truth, He will reveal Himself to you.  He will show you how YOUR name is written all over His Word.

Today, will you repent of your sin and believe that He paid the price on the cross to forgive your sins? It is sin that separates us from knowing a Holy God.  Today can be the day that He not only sees you, but you will see Him!

WHERE DO YOU FIND IT?

Where do you find the significance of your life?

Have you ever wondered what your purpose in life is or how you are to go about finding out what makes your life so unique?

I will admit, I was 24 years old before I understood that I was a 3-part being.  I remember reading a neat book about Spirit, soul & body, in the back of a truck on a road trip.  I understood for the first time that the real me (the real you) is the innermost part of our being.  That innermost part is the Spirit (heart).

We are body, soul & spirit.  The body is how we experience the physical world.  The soul is the mind, will & emotions.  The Spirit, the innermost being, is where God quickens us with His Spirit to know, understand and communicate with Him.

I'm pretty sure we could all say, if we truly believed we could communicate with Almighty God, that surely we could know what our purpose of life is.

This is not some far off thought - we can draw near to God and know Him.  We can understand and communicate with Him by His Spirit, the innermost part of us (heart).

And I will give them one heart [a new heart] and I will put a new Spirit within them; and I will take the stony [unnaturally hardened] heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh [sensitive and responsive to the touch of their God]  Ezekiel 11:19 AMP

Our part is to acknowledge our sin that separates us from Him.  We make the choice to repent (turn from our way of doing things) and ask Him to direct our lives....give up our self-seeking ways.....God will so quicken our hearts so that we will be brought back into a relationship (that sin separated us from).

You can know Him, and your purpose, through this new relationships with Him!  What is more, you will begin to understand His Word (the Bible) and His voice that speaks directly to your heart.

Here are just 2 scriptures that speak about God speaking to the heart, the innermost you :)

Solomon finished the house of the Lord, and the king's house: and all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of the Lord, and in his own house, he prosperously effected.  2 Chronicles 7:11 KJV

And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel.  Acts 7:23 KJV

The One who created you, wants to reveal His intentions to your heart.  It is more than an ordinary pulse - it is a very real sense of knowing "this is what I was created for!"

Today, will you hear and listen to God's call?  He's calling to those who know Him and to those who are ready to know Him :)

What has God has put into YOUR heart do so?

Simply said

I CAN'T HELP IT

Everyday we open our eyes and ears to an enormous amount of visual and verbal thoughts.

We almost seem obsessed with social media, letting 'friends'  see our recent Instagram, Selfie, upload of our friends or family pix to FB, or the important detail about how our child just said or did a particular thing.  It's quite exciting really - it's all part of this thing we call life.  We want to let others be part of what is important to us.

Though I love to be part of the lives of others, there is something that cannot be overlooked.  That is the source of what it is we really all live for.  Behind all the pix and recognition, what are we saying?  Perhaps it is, "Look at my life.  Look at how/what I am doing.  Look and see something wonderful that is going on in my life and the life of my family and friends."

This is all valid.  Yes.  But I can't help but to say there is something more.
I can't help it!  Can't help what?
We (ourselves) cannot help telling what we have seen and heard  Acts 4:20 AMP

Though social media can seem quite amazing, in that we get to all share in one another's experience of life, I cannot keep silent about the something more.

I cannot keep inside what I have seen and heard, which is a piece of my life I hope we can connect together on.  I want you to know.  Here goes...

Over 20 years ago - specifically April 1991, I got out of my bed at midnight, got down on my knees and said, "Lord, God, Jesus...whoever You are, if You're real, I want to know you."  In that moment, a peace and love came over me in my room.  I had an experience right there in my bedroom with God.  My heart was open to know the truth. Wow!  The next morning I woke up and I was never the same person I again.  His life became my life and I was truly alive like never before.  His Word (the Bible) was not a dull book anymore but words full of life that opened up and revealed things I never knew...and continues...

So, don't blame me, it's all because of His LIFE...the new life given to me in Christ Jesus that now compels me to tell people what I have seen and heard.

I can't help it!

Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.  John 14:6  NKJV

If you want to know Him today, you can!  I would love to talk with you about how you can come into a real relationship with Him today.

WHAT! No cell phone!

Right in front of my face!

The sign read NO CELL PHONE ZONE. I'm sure you have seen these signs, right?  I'm sure I must have too, but for some reason, I finally did see this one at my doctor appointment last week (I am healthy BTW!)

No cell phone zone.

Simple enough....but is it really necessary?

Do we need help, by way of a sign, to let us know when to stop using our cell phone?  Really??!!  Apparently so!

Let me ask you a question here.  Why do you suppose businesses find this type of sign necessary?  It's pretty simple actually - it's call DISTRACTION. They don't want you to be distracted from something that is important - communication with you.

I laughed as I talked with the nurse about this sign.  She told me how some people would refuse to adhere to the sign and continue to talk away on their phones.  She told me she needs to ask the patient questions and the fact that some patients could not get off the phone made it difficult to get the answers she needed.

Do we really need a sign posted to stop the DISTRACTION in our life?  Have we become undisciplined and unable to carry on regular human communication and put down the cell!

Let me drive this point closer to the greater matter - the matter of being distracted from a real relationship with God.  From the beginning of time, His desire was to be in relationship with each one of us.  Think of someone you deeply love.  Wouldn't you prefer to look into their eyes, talk with them and KNOW THEM instead of constantly texting or talking on your phone while in their presence?

Distraction: a drawing apart; separation; confusion from a multiplicity of objects crowding the mind and calling the attention different ways. Websters 1828 Dictionary

The Bible speaks about the dove.  Why?  Because the dove's eyes indicates a possession of a awareness and commitment.  A dove does not have peripheral vision (vision outside the central area of focus), therefore it can only see straight ahead.  This is why the dove's eyes are used in a love relationship seen in the Song of Solomon.

How beautiful you are, my love! How beautiful you are! Your eyes are like doves.   Song of Solomon 1:15 NLV

The Bible is God's book of love for us and what a romance it is!  God loves you...He loves you and wants to have relationship with you. Way back in the Garden of Eden, sin caused separation of man with a holy God.

The good news is, through Jesus Christ dying on the cross and taking the penalty of our sin, we can choose to repent (turn from our way of doing things) and give our lives fully to Him, so we can truly live life doing exactly what He created each of us to do.  WOW! Don't miss out on knowing and understanding your Father.  Jesus revives our Spirit and gives us HIS LIFE.

He gives life to the world.  John 6:33

Don't allow other 'things' to dominate your thoughts.  Do you need to adjust your focus and become like the dove who is not distracted by the many things around?  Set you eyes on Jesus - where your true life IS!  It's found IN Him.  Found in knowing Him.  Found in relationship with Him.  This is for you today.  The Bible says:

Look, now is the right time! Look, now is the day of salvation!       2 Corinthians 6:2 CEB

Do you have the secret?

What do you understand?  What do you know?  What do you 'really' know?

Being IN THE KNOW is possessing inside, secret, or special informations; to perceive or understand as fact or truth.

But God gave man the handbook of life.  His book book contains the understanding of relationship with the living God as well as the keys to living life on earth with others.

But these are written so you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. When you put your trust in Him, you will have life that lasts forever through His name.  John 20:31 NLV

We were not meant to live in the unknowns of who we are, the whys of why we are here, and our purpose on earth.  The fact is, without knowing Him personally, our mind remains in darkness - it simply cannot understand truth.

The true KNOWING is found in the Bible - God's words to us that are truth.  How many times are we willing to listen to men proclaim what they believe to be truth?

The good news is He always intended that we live in the light of His truth.  Jesus said YOU CAN KNOW...

I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God. Now you can know you have life that lasts forever.  1 John 5:13 NLV

Life?  Not just existence, but LIFE.  Life is for your 'choosing.'  Will you choose His way and not your own today?

Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!  Deuteronomy 30:19 NLT

Choose life by turning from your way and your sin and turning to the one who paid the price for your sin, so you can KNOW Him :)

What is your CAUSE?

We all want to know that our life is significant!

And yes, YOUR life is significant!

Your life was never intended to be a casual existence, but a purposeful, "Hello world, I am here, at this time, for THIS reason!"

Your cause (the very knowing that this is why you exist) can probably be readily seen in what you are passionate about.  You know, the something you would do if money were not an object, that would bring you great satisfaction.

What motivates you to action is also key to revealing to you the significance of your life and what it can be.

Did you know that Jesus, the Son of God, had a cause too...just as you have a significant cause?  He didn't just appear with a casual purpose.  No, He had a cause and He knew it and fulfilled that purpose.  So can you!

Look what Jesus said about His cause.

Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?”

Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king.  For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth.  Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.  John 18:37 NKJV

Jesus said it clearly - He said He was born to bear witness to truth. He wanted each of us to know truth, and to believe the truth so we could have a relationship with Him.

It may seem too simplistic, but Jesus said it!

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."  John 14:6 NKJV

You are significant, because you are the only you that will ever ever exist.
You are significant because you were known and thought of before the foundation of the earth.
You are significant because Jesus went to the cross to pay the penalty of sin for you, so that you could choose to know Him.
You are significant because there is a specific purpose for your life.  He is never withholding from you.  Never!  Today He says:
Listen! I am standing and knocking at your door. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in...  Revelation 3:20 CEV
Will you make the choice today to go His way?  Repent of your sins and ask Him to be the Lord of your life.  It is just the beginning of knowing your cause, and you will never regret knowing the truth!

The KNOW IT ALL!

A know-it-all is one who claims to know everything; one who disdains advice  Merriam-Webster

A know-it-all is as a person who obnoxiously purports an expansive comprehension of a topic and/or situation when in reality, his/her comprehension is inaccurate or limited Wikipedia

I got a bit stirred up by a question posted on my Linkedin group that asked, "What makes you confident?"

In an almost immediate response I typed out what makes me confident is...."Hiding behind someone who knows it all!"

I'll say it!  I want to have a know-it-all appearance, but I can't pull this off!  Can we admit the truth and say we DO want to feel popular amongst our peers?

I believe, ultimately, that confidence comes from knowing who you are because of whose you are.  To be in relationship with Jesus is to rely on and trust in the One who knows all about us.  We can be hidden in, or behind Him.

For [as far as this world is concerned] you have died, and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God.  Colossians 3:3 AMP

I was brought back about 20 years ago when I pulled up alongside a pretty girl in a very nice car at a traffic light.  At my first glance, she seemed to have it all - the looks and the car!  Almost immediately, I heard the Lord tell me that is how I saw it in my own eyes.  But the truth was, I had a very real confidence because I looked good 'hidden in Him!'  With Jesus being at the forefront, I had everything!

The Lord will be your confidence.  Proverbs 3:26 NKJV

No one can be the best YOU.  You are the original, and God intended for you to live your life in full expression, because that gives Him the glory.

Are you a know it all?  Well, you CAN know-it-all based on a relationship with Christ. Today can be your day of salvation.  Today can be the day you give your life completely to Him, by asking Him to forgive your sins and surrendering your life to Him.  Allow Him to give you the best life you could have on earth, and eternity.  Don't miss it.

Listen to his voice today.  If you hear it, don’t be stubborn Hebrews 4:7 NIRV

Did you forget the beginning?

On my bicycle ride tonight, a friend told me about something special our friend Glen did.  Glen is a fellow cyclist.  She told me that Glen gladly stayed back, on another group ride, with a rider who was slower/new to the group.

The important thing to know about Glen is that he did not forget the beginning.  Allow me to explain :)  I think it was 4 years ago...when we first met Glen on a ride that began from our home. Glen wasn't discouraged that many times he was in the back of the rest of the riders - he wanted to become a better rider.  Each week, he would show up.  Maybe you have guessed, over time, Glen moved from the back to the front riders.  His time with the group and his own discipline of riding paid off.

Back to what my friend told me tonight about Glen.  Glen always shows a great attitude to ride with any new rider or someone who may not be as fast as the rest of the group.

I couldn't help but see an analogy through Glen's experience early on.  Just as Glen has not lost his compassion for those who are not yet where they 'could' be....we should not lose or zeal to bring people to a better place (through knowing Christ).

This reminded me how it was in the beginning, for those who have chosen to put their trust in Jesus Christ.  Jesus comes in, floods us with a new life, His life, full of love.  A brand new thing has occurred as our heart is now changed.  I have heard it said that it is like winning the lottery and you cannot but help to tell everyone...."I'm rich!"  That is a natural example, but coming into a relationship with Christ does makes us alive and full of hope that you want to tell others how Good He is (share in the riches)!

You are God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9 NIV

As Christ followers, we should be like Glen.  We should remember the beginning.  Remember that we were once in a place where we didn't have it all together...but someone was there to help us along to see there was more through Christ.

Did you forget the beginning?  Have you been lulled to sleep (by the busyness of your life) that you have forgotten what He did for you and how He flooded your life with His life?

If so, be reminded today of the light that you do walk in.  Remember the analogy of Glen giving to others who were once where he was so they can experience something greater.  Give of the light that you have so someone else can come into something greater - eternal life!

And, if you do not know Christ today, the good news is He loves you.  This day can be your day to go from darkness to light.  From seeing not only with your physical eyes, but now seeing and understanding Him because of a relationship with Christ.  He paid the price for you on the cross, and it is your decision if you will put your trust in Him.  Choose to turn from your sin that separates from a Holy God.  Today can be your brand new start of an amazing lifetime relationship with Him :)

We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.  1 John 5:20 NIV

What is Easter to you?

Since this message from Billy Graham is so clear, I wanted to post for my friends :)

Every time the Gospel is proclaimed, those who hear the message and receive Christ as Savior come to faith by way of the cross.

Four dimensions of the cross come to my mind

First, I think about the breadth of the cross. The love of Christ is manifested in the cross to everyone. When I study the world population and see how fast it is increasing, I am staggered. Yet God loves us all. His love extends to Africa, to Asia, to Latin America, to Russia, to China, to the United States, to Canada-to the whole world. It includes you, whoever you are, whatever your religion, even if you have no religion. God says from the cross, "I love you."

Then there is the length of the cross. It has no measure. It extends from eternity to eternity, from everlasting to everlasting. When Noah built the Ark, it was 450 feet long. When Solomon built the Temple, it was 60 cubits long. If you build a shed for garden tools, you can measure the lumber with a tape measure. But how can you measure God's love for us on the cross? The Bible says that God's love surpasses knowledge (Ephesians 3:19). There is no way that our finite minds can even begin to understand the love God had for us when He gave His Son on the cross to die for us, because you and I deserve death. We deserve judgment and hell.

Then I think of the height of the cross-it extends to the throne of God. It doesn't matter how high Heaven is. Through the cross, God draws all people to Himself. But you have to make a decision about Jesus Christ.

And I think about the depth of God's love for us on the cross. You can fall into the pit of sin and degradation. You can live like an animal. You can be a murderer, a rapist. But you can't get beyond the love of God. The cross covers to the very gates of hell. How deep is God's love? The Bible says, The depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!”  Romans 11:33

It can draw every sinner up to the exalted height of Heaven.  Jesus said, "And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself."  John 12:32

Think of Christ's suffering for you.

Those nails through His hands and feet were driven by you and me and all the peoples of the world. We all had a part in the death of Christ because of our sins. Our sins put Him on the cross-and you participated.

You will never understand the Bible, you will never understand the death of Christ on the cross, until you understand that God is a holy and righteous and pure God. He cannot even look upon evil.

In that terrible time of the agony of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross, a shadow came between God the Father and God the Son. God cannot look upon sin, and in that moment He was laying your sins and mine on Christ.

He who knew no sin was made to be sin for us. 2 Corinthians 5:21. That means that He had never known sin, never told a lie, never had an evil thought, never had any greed or lust. But all of the filth and dirt from your life and my life descended on Him. None of us will ever understand the mystery of that moment. It was God's great love for each of us that allowed His Son to take that suffering.

You and I have sinned against God. We have broken His laws. God told Adam that if he broke God's law, he would surely die (Genesis 2:17). But Adam and Eve broke His law.
They sinned. We have all deliberately rebelled against God. God would not be God, He wouldn't be just and righteous and holy, if He came along and patted us on the back and said, "You're forgiven." We either had to die for our own sins, or somebody who was qualified had to die for us. That Person who was qualified was Jesus Christ, and He volunteered to do it. He died in our place. People will do almost anything to get rid of their guilt. The place to get rid of guilt is at the cross. Jesus came to die. On the cross He said, "It is finished." John 19:30

God had given Jesus a work to do, and in the Gospel of John we read that Jesus said, "I have finished the work which You have given Me to do." John 17:4. We wonder why He didn't feed everybody and heal everybody. He could have done it. He healed some people and fed some who were hungry, and He did that out of compassion. But His real work was the cross; there He was dealing with eternity.

Your body will go to the grave. Your soul, your spirit-the part of you that lives forever-will live on. Where will you spend eternity? Heaven or hell? That will be decided by what you do about the cross, because from the cross Christ is asking you to repent of your sin and receive Him as your Lord and Savior.

From the cross, Jesus reached out by His death and rescued us.  On the cross Jesus cried with a loud voice, "Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit." Luke 23:46  They did not take His life from Him; He laid it down voluntarily. He gave up His Spirit to God the Father. And in saying this, He conferred upon every one of us the possibility of the gift of eternal life. You can have eternal life, too. Jesus' invitation is to Heaven.

We were lost, confused, without purpose or meaning in life, without assurance of a future life. But from the cross Jesus reached out by His death and rescued us. We can say to Him today, "Lord," "Savior." Are you sure that He is your Lord and your Savior? Thousands of people attend church, but they are not sure that they have committed their lives to Christ.

Do you know Christ? Do you know the forgiveness of the cross and the power of Christ's resurrection? Are you forgiven? Have you received new life, resurrection life? I am asking you to make your commitment to Christ. God will help you, if you are willing.

GET RICH IN ONE DAY

     RICHES CAN BE YOURS
Riches result in your life because of what you seek after & ultimately live in - that very thing sought after.  We all make it a priority & dedicate our precious time to what we believe in.

A man does not aimlessly go after something that he does not believe can be obtained.

Riches can be found in two locations:  earth & heaven.  One is temporal & one is eternal.  The good news is they can go hand-in-hand.  The key is believing in the One who is the giver of all things.

Every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor—it is the gift of God.  Ecclesiastes 3:13 AMP

It goes back to what is priority.  To put God 1st is to allow Him to do His best work in & through you, more than you could think or imagine!  He will open up His good treasures to the one who seeks Him 1st and goes on the treasure hunt!  Much treasure is meant to be found.

No man who believes in Him [who adheres to, relies on, and trusts in Him] will [ever] be put to shame or be disappointed.
The same Lord is Lord over all [of us] and He generously bestows His riches upon all who call upon Him [in faith].  Romans 10:11-12 AMP

Today, what are you believing in?  To believe means to have confidence in the truth, the existence, or reliability of something.
If you haven't already done so, take the 1st step to receiving true riches.  Be persuaded that they are available.

Putting God 1st.  Believe in the true riches, found in Jesus, who paid the price of sin on the cross for each one of us.  In doing so, He opened the way for us to come back into right relationship with God (be connected!)

Today, you can know Him (not just about Him) by acknowledging your sin, repenting (a deliberate change of direction) and ask Him to come into your life and reveal the true treasures that await your life.

Questions?  Would love to hear from you @ www.simplewithsyd.com

It lost the OOMPH!

Can you agree that there are certain phrases you have heard over and over and over again until they seem to have lost their OOMPH meaning?  One such phrase is....

"God bless you!"
What are we really saying to someone after they sneeze?  Other such phrases, on the same line are, "Bless your heart!" and "You're blessed!"  Do we hear and believe the words?  And if so, what do they mean to us, if anything?

Call me bit strange, but I think about the words people say to me and if it is said with purpose or a casual, common feel good phrase.

I realize I am flawed, so truth be told, I struggle with the phrase, "You're blessed!"  Although it sounds good, it seems to be said in response to something of a positive addition to your life (a new car, a gift, being married, having a baby etc.).

The struggle is over!  Last Friday, I saw it in the Light and it now makes sense.

But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.  James 1:25 NIV

"Be blessed!" has it's OOMPH!  If someone tells me I am blessed (now), I can emphatically say, "Yes, I am!"  It is in the knowledge that a blessed person is one one looks into God's word and continues and continues in it.  He does not forget what he has heard (in the word) but hears it, takes the words to heart, and does what it says.

But He said, Blessed (happy and to be envied) rather are those who hear the Word of God and obey and practice it!  Luke 11:28 AMP
Are you a hearer and a doer?  Then you know what you are!  Do you hear only and do not do (give out), but want to live the full life in Him?  Here is prayer that will be effective -John the Baptist said...

He must increase, but I must decrease. [He must grow more prominent; I must grow less so.]  John 3:30 AMP

May you be blessed in your hearing and doing today!

YOU CAN KNOW!

The choice is yours today!
I have set before you this day life and good, and death and evil.  Deuteronomy 30:15

Your choice #1:  Live in relationship of knowing the living God - the God who gave you life.

And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.  John 17:3

Your choice #2:  Live outside of knowing the living God.

Everyone is dull-hearted, without knowledge; every metalsmith is put to shame by an image; for his molded image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.  Jeremiah 10:14

THIS IS GOOD NEWS!  Today, choose LIFE!  True life is found in relationship with the creator.  The good news is we can come right back into a right relationship with our God.  Every one of us were separated from HIm because of our sin 'nature' (we really can't help ourselves!).   The good news is Jesus loved each of us so much, He paid this penalty of our sin on the cross.  Then, He died and rose again that we might live.

I bring you the most joyful news ever announced, and it is for everyone!  Luke 2:10

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16

What is YOUR choice today?  :)

I NEED A FREEZER FULL OF CHICKEN!

WHY DID SHE SAY THESE WORDS?

These are the words I heard my Mother say to me, while on a trip to Malaysia to renew my Visa.

Pumped up with gratitude, I called my mother and said, "I was bumped up to business class on my flight to Malaysia (the ticket was paid for too)....because someone thought I looked like a teacher."  I continued on, "The folks I met on a train offered me (and my friend) food, when they did not know we were in need of food.  And.. these same folks put us in contact with their friends, who put us up in an amazing condo on the Straights of Malacca for week for free.  Can you believe this!?"

My Mom was with me in my excitement.  She certainly had learned/learning that with all her own thoughts, she didn't have much to say about the true answers to life....but knew that HE does!

Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.

In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.  Proverbs 3:5-6 AMP

She said, "Yes!  God provides what we each need, when we have the need."  She said, "I don't have need of a plane tickets or places to stay like you do...I need a freezer full of chicken to feed the hungry."

What did she mean?  I once heard it said that everything we have need of can be found on the road obedience.  Here is a perfect story to show this truth.

Then Saul gave David his own armor—a bronze helmet and a coat of mail. David put it on, strapped the sword over it, and took a step or two to see what it was like, for he had never worn such things before. “I can hardly move!” he exclaimed, and took them off again.

Then he picked up five smooth stones from a stream and put them in his shepherd’s bag and, armed only with his shepherd’s staff and sling, started across to Goliath.  Goliath walked out toward David with his shield-bearer ahead of him, sneering in contempt at this nice little red-cheeked boy!

Did the five stones miraculously appear?  No. Over much time, this perfect provision of five smooth stones were right there waiting...ready for this moment for David!  You will find God's provision on your road of obedience.  It's a daily walking in the what you know is right, according to His will (and revealed will to you).

I needed a plane ticket, Mom needed chicken...David needed five stones.

As Goliath approached, David ran out to meet him and, reaching into his shepherd’s bag, took out a stone, hurled it from his sling, and hit the Philistine in the forehead. The stone sank in, and the man fell on his face to the ground. 1 Samuel 17:36-48 TLB

Seek God to direct your path and don't waver between two sides of the road.  There is a path for you.  If you deviate, He can get you back on tract.  Submit your ways to Him and choose His will over your own.

Super Bowl!

Super Bowl Sunday is almost here!

Can I be truthful here (& hope I'm not alone) in saying I'm into the Super Bowl for the social aspect of being with friends & possibly seeing the really neat commercials.  I also get an inside kick seeing true fans sometimes jump up at a play, talk or yell to the screen - showing their great enthusiasm for their team.

I got to thinking about what is behind these plays that have fans in a frenzy.  It's the play from the play book, right?

The book containing descriptions of all the plays & strategies used by a team, often with accompanying diagrams.  Surely the players were issued their plays to be studied & memorized before the season even began.

This book lead me to the thought of the great play book, the Bible. In this play book, Jesus gave the play-by-play.  He gave us His words so we might KNOW the play book for our life.

Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.  John 5:12-13 NIV

Though I am not a football fan, the play book still piques my interest because in the simplest of terms, a play book lets each of us KNOW what way to go in life.

And this is eternal life, that they may know, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.  John 17:3 NKJV

Football is such an American phenomena and yet the play book of your life is truly a greater event!

Do you want to receive the play?  Seek Him with your heart, search for Him in His word and allow Him to direct you in the winning play!   The winning play is living out the full expression of YOU, through Him.

THAT YOU MAY KNOW!

Four words?  That YOU may KNOW!  No gray area here.  Do you know?  You can...don't wait another day :)

ultimate ENERGY boost

Do you find yourself dragging as the morning gets going?   Perhaps you feel sluggish during the afternoon hours?  Does it feel like your battery is only partially charged?

Do you want a full battery charge?

Here's an energy boost that will always give you a charge!  This is not just a pick-me-up boost, but a true life lifting boost!

One definition of energy is the capacity for vigorous activity; available power.

What if there was something we could partake of that lasts - something that would substantially suuper-charge your day?

Want this energy boost?  The ultimate energy boost is found in WORDS.  Yes words!  Not our spoken words but the words spoken by the One who created all things and gives life to each of us!

We don't live by food alone, vitamins alone, sports drinks alone...we are not fueled by these alone.

It takes more than bread to stay alive. It takes a steady stream of words from God’s mouth.  Matthew 4:4 MSG

Would you like this boost?  If so, from your heart, ask the Lord to be the everything in your life & fill you with His word.  His word is life.  He will energize you with His LIFE, refreshing your soul so you can in turn pour out this life to others around you.

For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.  Hebrews 4:12 AMP
