I CAN'T HELP IT

Everyday we open our eyes and ears to an enormous amount of visual and verbal thoughts.

We almost seem obsessed with social media, letting 'friends'  see our recent Instagram, Selfie, upload of our friends or family pix to FB, or the important detail about how our child just said or did a particular thing.  It's quite exciting really - it's all part of this thing we call life.  We want to let others be part of what is important to us.

Though I love to be part of the lives of others, there is something that cannot be overlooked.  That is the source of what it is we really all live for.  Behind all the pix and recognition, what are we saying?  Perhaps it is, "Look at my life.  Look at how/what I am doing.  Look and see something wonderful that is going on in my life and the life of my family and friends."

This is all valid.  Yes.  But I can't help but to say there is something more.
I can't help it!  Can't help what?
We (ourselves) cannot help telling what we have seen and heard  Acts 4:20 AMP

Though social media can seem quite amazing, in that we get to all share in one another's experience of life, I cannot keep silent about the something more.

I cannot keep inside what I have seen and heard, which is a piece of my life I hope we can connect together on.  I want you to know.  Here goes...

Over 20 years ago - specifically April 1991, I got out of my bed at midnight, got down on my knees and said, "Lord, God, Jesus...whoever You are, if You're real, I want to know you."  In that moment, a peace and love came over me in my room.  I had an experience right there in my bedroom with God.  My heart was open to know the truth. Wow!  The next morning I woke up and I was never the same person I again.  His life became my life and I was truly alive like never before.  His Word (the Bible) was not a dull book anymore but words full of life that opened up and revealed things I never knew...and continues...

So, don't blame me, it's all because of His LIFE...the new life given to me in Christ Jesus that now compels me to tell people what I have seen and heard.

I can't help it!

Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.  John 14:6  NKJV

If you want to know Him today, you can!  I would love to talk with you about how you can come into a real relationship with Him today.

WHAT! No cell phone!

Right in front of my face!

The sign read NO CELL PHONE ZONE. I'm sure you have seen these signs, right?  I'm sure I must have too, but for some reason, I finally did see this one at my doctor appointment last week (I am healthy BTW!)

No cell phone zone.

Simple enough....but is it really necessary?

Do we need help, by way of a sign, to let us know when to stop using our cell phone?  Really??!!  Apparently so!

Let me ask you a question here.  Why do you suppose businesses find this type of sign necessary?  It's pretty simple actually - it's call DISTRACTION. They don't want you to be distracted from something that is important - communication with you.

I laughed as I talked with the nurse about this sign.  She told me how some people would refuse to adhere to the sign and continue to talk away on their phones.  She told me she needs to ask the patient questions and the fact that some patients could not get off the phone made it difficult to get the answers she needed.

Do we really need a sign posted to stop the DISTRACTION in our life?  Have we become undisciplined and unable to carry on regular human communication and put down the cell!

Let me drive this point closer to the greater matter - the matter of being distracted from a real relationship with God.  From the beginning of time, His desire was to be in relationship with each one of us.  Think of someone you deeply love.  Wouldn't you prefer to look into their eyes, talk with them and KNOW THEM instead of constantly texting or talking on your phone while in their presence?

Distraction: a drawing apart; separation; confusion from a multiplicity of objects crowding the mind and calling the attention different ways. Websters 1828 Dictionary

The Bible speaks about the dove.  Why?  Because the dove's eyes indicates a possession of a awareness and commitment.  A dove does not have peripheral vision (vision outside the central area of focus), therefore it can only see straight ahead.  This is why the dove's eyes are used in a love relationship seen in the Song of Solomon.

How beautiful you are, my love! How beautiful you are! Your eyes are like doves.   Song of Solomon 1:15 NLV

The Bible is God's book of love for us and what a romance it is!  God loves you...He loves you and wants to have relationship with you. Way back in the Garden of Eden, sin caused separation of man with a holy God.

The good news is, through Jesus Christ dying on the cross and taking the penalty of our sin, we can choose to repent (turn from our way of doing things) and give our lives fully to Him, so we can truly live life doing exactly what He created each of us to do.  WOW! Don't miss out on knowing and understanding your Father.  Jesus revives our Spirit and gives us HIS LIFE.

He gives life to the world.  John 6:33

Don't allow other 'things' to dominate your thoughts.  Do you need to adjust your focus and become like the dove who is not distracted by the many things around?  Set you eyes on Jesus - where your true life IS!  It's found IN Him.  Found in knowing Him.  Found in relationship with Him.  This is for you today.  The Bible says:

Look, now is the right time! Look, now is the day of salvation!       2 Corinthians 6:2 CEB
